Saturday Night Skate May 2017 - Bishan Park to The Cenotaph Memorial

This May, we take to Kallang Park Connector and travel from Bishan Park to one of the most iconic park in Singapore - The Esplanade Park.

This unique park connector cleverly links some of the estates in Toa Payoh, Serangoon and Kallang together. Enjoy the beautiful scenery that the Singapore Flyer has to offer  as well as the famous Formula 1 track along the way.

Ending Point: The Cenotaph Memorial
Distance: ~13km


*Parking is available at Bishan Park.

GETTING THERE
Bus: 133, 136, 262

Complimentary bus service will be provided for return trip to Bishan Park from the Padang after the event.

HOW TO JOIN
Simply RSVP via the Facebook event page (Facebook login required) by clicking the 'Going' or 'Join' button to register your attendance. This will allow you to see event updates on the Facebook event page in case of event changes or cancellation.

WHO CAN JOIN
The activity is free and open to all skaters with the following in mind:

  • This is an open and public social gathering, participants take part in the SNS at their own risk. Skateline staff and Skate Assist Volunteers (SAVs) facilitate this social gathering but assume no responsibility for the safety of the participants.
  • For intermediate skaters and above
  • Event will start on time
  • Multiple overhead bridges crossings to be expected
  • Able to stop at will, turn sharp corners and handle the following unassisted: slopes, stairs, curbs, humps, depressions, rough/uneven ground, wet surfaces and urban features like overhead bridges and traffic crossings
  • Be patient and obey all traffic rules
  • Respect pedestrians and avoid causing obstruction or inconvenience to the public. Give way if necessary
  • Do not skate into malls or shopping centres
  • Follow the instructions from the Captain and Marshals
  • Route may change without prior notice

Skate Fiesta at Car Free Sunday May 2017

The popular 'Skate Fiesta' is back again at the Car Free Sunday event this May!

Here's your chance to be a part of the Car Free Sunday event on skates, whether you are total beginner or an experienced inline-skater. We have the following activities lined up for you!

Inline Skating Try-out

Always wanted to try inline-skating? Come let us show you the basics! Perfect for total beginners. Complimentary skates and gears are provided. Conditions apply.

  • Location: Connaught Drive
  • Time: 8:00am - 11:30am
  • Fee: FREE, first-come-first-served basis (longer waiting time required during peak periods)

Mass Group Skating: Join us for the flag off!

Join us for the inline-skater's flag off and mass skate at the Car Free Sunday on 26 March! Stand with us and all other inline skaters at the start line in front of the National Gallery. It's will be a great way for inline-skaters to show our support for the event, as well as to remind the organisers and the authorities to keep inline-skaters in mind in their urban and event planning.

  • Flag off point: In front of National Gallery on St. Andrew's Road
  • Flag off time: 8am

Kids Race and Family Relay

 

Children can look forward to take part in our inline-skating circuit race competition and experience the thrill of pitting their skating skills against other children.

Parents who skate can also join in the fun too in the Family relay activities and share the fun with their children! More details about the race will be released as we confirm the details. Register now! Conditions apply.

  • Location: Connaught Drive
  • Time: Junior's Circuit Race 10am, Family Relay 11am
  • Fee: $10/child
  • Closing date: 26 May 2017 

 

Terms and conditions apply

  • For kids aged 5 to 12 years old only.
  • Full set of protective gears and helmet is mandatory for the race.
  • All skates and safety equipment are self-provisional, for both parent and kid.
  • Medals will be awarded to the top 3 winners for kids race only.
  • Participants are advised to report at least 15-20 minutes earlier for registration and preparations.
  • For Family Relay event, helmet for parent and full gears for kids is mandatory.
  • Only participants who complete pre-event registration online will be accepted for the race. No on site registration or fee transaction is allowed.
  • Further race instructions will be provided upon successful registration.

Car Free Sunday Skate Fiesta 26 March 2017

Score of inline skaters flagged off together as one skating community at the latest Car Free Sunday event on March 26. The mass skating was an initiative by Urban Redevelopment Agency and Sports Singapore to promote the sport.

Event visitors also had the opportunity to try inline skating at our free try-out booth at Connaught Drive, which sees a mixture of both young and old participants.

Also, for the first time in CFS history, children aged 5 to 12 years old pitted their skating skills against each other on Amoy Street, which was part of the CFS road closure and famous for a 40m long art mural behind Thian Hock Keng Temple, drawn by artist Yip Yew Chong, which depicts the life of early Hokkien immigrants in Singapore.

Skating parents get to play a part with their child too in the Family Fun Challenge through fun telematches, which promotes family bonding through the sport.

Saturday Morning Skate 18 Feb 2017: Labrador Park to Vivocity

Join us for a skate along the Southern coast line between Labrador Park and Vivocity.

Pass through a coastal boardwalk and maybe spot an otter at the mangrove outlets. Skate through exclusive yacht marinas and past historical spots.
